These days you will probably find many BBQ with steamboat restaurant mushrooming all around the city. Then, sometimes amongst these restaurants, one would offer a different experience. Of such is the Fireman BBQ Restaurant.
Oh, this restaurant is a non-halal restaurant as what you see in the picture above is pork fat. Yes, this is used to provide oil (fats/not-s0-healthy cholesterol) for the barbeque.
As you can see, the grill for the barbeque are the ones where the fresh foods are placed on. And the steamboat is the little ‘drain’ you see just below the grill part.
One of the reasons why I went there was because there were having an offer – an Eat-All-You-Can offer for only RM 19.90 per person which was a steel.
Their buffet menu consists of pork, beef, chicken, liver, intestine, shrimp, squid, cuttlefish, fish mushroom, green tea tofu, pork ball, beef ball, sausage, golden fish, chikuwa (not sure what this is though cause we ordered in bulk and the food came all at once), crab stick, dumbbell, Chinese cabbage, pumpkin, tomato, finger fruit, cabbage, mushroom, kai lan, choy sam, baby lettuce, steamed jasmine rice, glass noodle, mee hoon, maggie mee, udon mee, egg and also their dessert of the day.
Yes, that was the whole menu. It’s kind of limited but hey, what do you expect when you only pay 20 ringgit for the meal.
Dumbbells and golden fish, they came in stackable containers.
They can stack all the way up!
Cuttlefish.
Lean beef meat.
Finger fruit, looks like mango but it’s not.
Abalone mushroom. Had five plates of these.
Extra fat beef meat, pork meat behind there.
The steamboat soup base was a mild radish soup, almost tasteless. But believe me, the soup tend to get more ‘flavoured’ after quite a period of time. Well, you see the ‘juice’ from the bbq grill which was designed a little like the drain will flow from the grill to the soup. Thus, giving the soup a little flavour. Towards the end though, the soup became too salty and that is when you need more of the tasteless soup.
They even had a fire show, presented by one of the waiter himself.
The show was quite interesting but the fire was hot. He fanned his hands once during the show when the fire got too hot.
My verdict: The food was okay, not those fantastic one. Nice atmosphere and the air wasn’t stuff even though it was indoor and there were bbq smoke. For RM 20, it was worth it.
The Firemen BBQ Restaurant is located at Jaya One, Petaling Jaya.
